Wednesday Hikes for the Work Weary

Refresh your mind and body after a long day of work. Starting April 6 and continuing through October, Kings Gap Environmental Education Center will offer free weekly Wednesday evening hikes. These free weekly hikes are briskly-paced, 3.0 - 3.5 miles over uneven terrain, with a 20 minute break along the trail for a snack.  Routes will vary each week. Hikers should always bring water; boots or sturdy shoes are highly recommended.  Meet at the Kings Gap Hollow Area (formerly the Pond Area) parking lot to depart promptly at 6:00 p.m. No registration is required.  For more information, or if weather is questionable, call 717-486-3799 before 4:00 pm.

For more information about programs contact the Kings Gap Environmental Education Center at (717) 486-3799, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  The center grounds are open to the public year-round from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

Dickinson Township Residents:

The Park and Recreation Committee for Dickinson Township currently has three (3) openings for volunteer committee members.

Some of the Park and Recreation Committee’s goals and objectives are to assess and recommend to the Board of Supervisors adjustments to the parks and recreation needs within the township, provide year round activities for youth and adults, increase open space and park land acreage, and implement a Park Improvement Plan.

The Committee’s activities range from Chili Cook-offs to Golf Outings.  If you enjoy public outreach, participating in events, and being a member of a team focused on enhancing the parks and recreation sites within the township, please feel free to attend one of our meetings held on the 4th Monday of each month at 6PM at the Dickinson Township Building.   If you would like to be considered for one of our vacancies, please submit your resume to the Dickinson Township manager for consideration at our next meeting.  You may e-mail your resume to Ron Reeder –dickinsontwpom@comcast.net.
